A high-speed chase in Kpandai, Northern Region, ended in tragedy on Sunday, October 20, 2024, when a police officer lost his life and another was seriously injured.
The officers, stationed at a checkpoint from the Formed Police Unit (FPU), sought shelter at a nearby filling station when it began raining. They spotted two men on a motorbike who refused to stop when signaled. The officers pursued them on their own motorbike, but during the chase, they collided with a pedestrian.
The officer riding at the back was thrown from the bike and hit his head on the ground. He was rushed to Kpandai Hospital, where he sadly died upon arrival. The officer driving the motorbike suffered serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Kpandai District Hospital.
The two men being chased were also involved in an accident. One sustained injuries and is receiving medical attention, while the other has been arrested and remains in police custody.
