In Kumasi, a police dispatch rider faced injuries in a head-on collision while escorting a VIP convoy on the Anloga-Junction stretch of the Kumasi Airport road.
The accident unfolded when the dispatch rider, accompanying a VIP vehicle, attempted to navigate around traffic by using the opposite lane. Despite signaling for the approaching car to slow down, the motorcade collided head-on with a vehicle bearing registration number AS-1142-16, causing the police rider to fall in the midst of the road.
Witnesses recounted the officer sustaining injuries, while the occupants of the other car emerged unscathed. An onlooker named Bismarck shared that the dispatch rider opted for the opposite lane to maneuver through traffic on the Aboabo-Airport road.
Although the vehicle transporting the VIPs continued its journey, the collision exacerbated traffic congestion on the route, leading to motorists waiting nearly an hour until police authorities cleared the thoroughfare. Subsequently, a police towing truck arrived to transport the damaged vehicles to the Airport police station.
