
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 45-year-old TikToker, Isaac Boafo, popularly known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false news with intent to cause fear and panic.
In a press release issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on March 1, 2026, the Police stated that the suspect was picked up following a viral video he circulated on TikTok. In the video, Boafo allegedly claimed that four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi had engaged in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrol duties at Asafo in Kumasi.
According to the Police, officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region acted on intelligence to apprehend the suspect. During interrogation, Boafo reportedly admitted to publishing the video and stated that he is a social media content creator who made the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement.
The Police further indicated that the suspect confessed he could not substantiate the claims made against the officers. He also acknowledged making comments concerning the President of the Republic for content creation purposes and admitted he could not defend those statements.
The suspect has since been formally charged and detained to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command cautioned the public against the publication and circulation of false information, particularly on social media platforms, stressing that such actions have the potential to cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational damage. Authorities warned that persons found engaging in similar conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
