Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Omanjor Palace Attack

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a key suspect believed to be involved in the violent attack on the Omanjor Palace that left three people dead and 49 others injured.

The suspect, identified as Newton Allotey, was apprehended by the Special Support Unit in a coordinated operation at Dansoman in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.

According to police sources, intelligence suggested that Allotey, who was allegedly part of the armed gang that stormed the palace, had gone into hiding in the Dansoman area. At about 1:00 am, four teams from the Unit raided his hideout and successfully arrested him.

A search conducted during the operation revealed 18 spent BB cartridges in his possession. The police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects whose identities are already known to security authorities. Police say they remain committed to bringing all perpetrators of the Omanjor violence to justice.
