The Ghana Police Service has arrested ten individuals suspected of belonging to a criminal syndicate behind a series of armed robberies targeting rural banks across multiple regions.
According to the police, the arrests were the result of months of investigations, intelligence gathering, and surveillance, which revealed a consistent pattern in the operations of the group.
The nationwide operation extended to the Brong Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern, and Ashanti regions. During the operation, three suspects were killed after engaging police officers in a shootout.
Police confirmed that the arrested suspects are currently in custody and will face court proceedings once investigations are completed.
The incident, which occurred in September 2025, underscores the heightened security challenges facing rural banks and the need for continued vigilance in protecting financial institutions.
