The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 50 Nigerian nationals in a dawn raid at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality, Greater Accra Region, over suspected involvement in cybercrime and human trafficking.

The operation, carried out on Thursday, July 24, 2025, followed credible intelligence that some foreign nationals were illegally residing in the area and had been trafficked into the country. According to a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the victims were reportedly forced by their facilitators to engage in cyber fraud schemes.

“The Ghana Immigration Service in the early hours of today… conducted a special operation at McCarthy Hills… some of \[the suspects] were trafficked into the country and forced into cyber fraud,” the statement noted.

Among those arrested was the landlord of the residence where the illegal activities were allegedly being conducted. Authorities believe the property served as a hub for coordinating cybercrime operations.

The Immigration Service has launched a full investigation to uncover the extent of the criminal network and identify all those involved. Officials assured the public that further updates will be shared as the probe advances.
