Nana Opoku Ware, son of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been elected President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the Ghana School of Law. This follows a recent election held across four campuses of the institution, including the KNUST campus, where he is based.
Provisional results from the election indicate that Nana Opoku Ware secured a total of 668 votes, representing approximately 35.93% of the total valid votes cast. He emerged victorious in three out of the four campuses; UPSA, KNUST, and Makola.
His closest contenders included Festus Tetteh Matey, who polled 489 votes (26.30%), Michael Obiri-Adjei with 377 (20.28%), Benjamin Ofei-Addo with 276 (14.85%), and Emmanuella Tetteh-Ashong with 49 votes (2.64%).
The election, held on April 29 and 30, 2025, involved over 2,300 students from Part I, Part II, and Post-Call levels. Voting took place at the institution’s Makola Main campus, UPSA, GIMPA (Greenhill), and KNUST campuses.
A CK Analytics survey conducted earlier in April had projected Nana Opoku Ware as the likely winner, citing growing support across multiple campuses. The results confirmed those projections, particularly at UPSA and KNUST, where he earned significant margins.
Nana Opoku Ware is widely recognized for his proactive and people-centered leadership style. A KNUST graduate with legal training experience from 12 King’s Bench Walk in the UK and AB & David Africa in Kumasi, he combines academic rigor with a global legal outlook.
As the founder of the N.O.W. Foundation, he has initiated several impactful projects, including scholarships for underprivileged students and water access initiatives in underserved communities. At the Ghana School of Law, he has already taken tangible steps to improve campus life by repairing lecture hall furniture and leading the rollout of Starlink internet services.
His policy roadmap includes key initiatives such as the “One Campus, One Bus” transportation program, improved student health services, integration of legal tech tools, affordable academic resources, and enhanced international mentorship and exchange opportunities
