Otto Addo, head coach of the Ghana national football team, is expected to announce his squad in the coming days for the March international friendlies against Germany and Austria as preparations intensify for the FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will first face Germany on March 27 in Stuttgart before travelling to Vienna to take on Austria three days later.
The number of players to be invited has not yet been disclosed, but the coach is expected to give opportunities to several players aiming to secure a place in the final World Cup squad.
Regular players such as Benjamin Asare, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana are all expected to receive call-ups.
However, a few key players have been ruled out due to injuries, including Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Abu Francis and Ernest Nuamah.
One major talking point ahead of the squad announcement is whether the coach will recall Ghana’s most-capped player, André Ayew.
Ayew, who has not featured for the national team for two years, has renewed calls for a return after regular appearances for his club NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.
The 36-year-old forward has made 10 appearances for the Dutch club this season, including five starts, and has scored one goal.
