The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially removed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from its wanted persons list following confirmation of his scheduled return to Ghana in May 2025.

The OSP had earlier declared Ofori-Atta wanted as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption-related offenses. However, the former minister was unavailable for questioning as he had traveled to the United States for medical treatment.

In a statement released on Monday, the OSP confirmed that Ofori-Atta’s legal team had formally communicated his intention to return and cooperate with investigators. The statement indicated that based on this assurance, the decision was made to take his name off the wanted list.

The former finance minister has faced scrutiny over allegations of financial mismanagement and irregularities during his tenure. The investigation forms part of broader efforts by the Special Prosecutor’s office to combat corruption and ensure accountability among public officials.

Ofori-Atta’s removal from the wanted list does not signify the end of the case, as the OSP has stated that he will still be required to answer questions upon his return. His legal representatives have assured that he is committed to cooperating with the investigation.
