The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into suspected corruption involving the diversion of 50 twenty-foot containers of palm oil valued at GH¢25.8 million.
In a statement dated February 24, 2026, the OSP disclosed that the consignment, which had been declared as goods in transit to Burkina Faso, was unlawfully redirected into the local market without the payment of the required duties and taxes.
Preliminary findings indicate the alleged involvement of some Customs officers, National Security operatives and clearing agents in what the OSP describes as a corrupt scheme. The suspected diversion is estimated to have resulted in a tax revenue loss of approximately GH¢10.5 million.
According to the statement, the investigation stems from an intelligence-led operation conducted in November 2025. The Office said inquiries are ongoing as it works to establish the full scope of the alleged misconduct and identify all individuals connected to the case.
The OSP reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring accountability in the management of state revenue.
