One Suspect Arrested Over False Galamsey Petition

Spread the love

Police have arrested social activist Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah over controversial claims accusing some Regional Ministers of engaging in illegal mining (galamsey).

Yeboah made the allegations during a phone-in interview, stating that the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional Ministers were complicit in galamsey and urged the NIAMOS task force to turn its attention to them.

He was subsequently picked up by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after a formal complaint was filed by Mr. Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the accused officials. The petitioners insist that Yeboah circulated fabricated and harmful claims.

According to police, Yeboah is currently assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Authorities say the arrest is part of efforts to curb deliberate misinformation targeted at public officeholders.

Meanwhile, Yeboah has issued a public retraction and apology to the officials he accused, as the case continues to unfold.
