The driver of the Hiace sustained only minor injuries, but one passenger was found unresponsive and later confirmed dead upon arrival at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that wrongful overtaking by the Toyota Hiace driver was the primary cause of the accident. The Hiace was severely damaged, while the Zonda truck suffered partial impact.
