Oil Spill on Accra–Tema Corridor Causes Three Accidents

An oil spill stretching from the Accra Mall section of the highway towards Tema has resulted in at least three separate accidents on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The incident left sections of the busy corridor dangerously slippery, creating serious hazards for motorists, particularly smaller vehicles and motorbikes. Drivers using the route have been urged to reduce speed and exercise extreme caution to prevent further crashes.

Preliminary information indicates that the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has been notified and is expected to take immediate safety measures to contain the situation and prevent additional accidents.

Authorities have also called on commuters to remain vigilant while navigating the affected stretch of road until the spillage is cleared.
