Odumase Explosion: Death Toll Rises to Three

The death toll from the tragic explosion at Odumase, near Konongo in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has risen to three. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, initially claimed one life, but two additional victims have since succumbed to their injuries.

The explosion, which originated at shops selling mining explosives, caused extensive damage and left several people injured, including firefighters who had rushed to the scene. The blast, which destroyed buildings and sparked safety concerns due to its proximity to a fuel station, resulted in severe injuries to some victims, with reports of dismemberment.

Medical officials have confirmed that most of the injured, including fire officers and affected civilians, have been treated and discharged. However, about five victims remain hospitalized, with two in critical condition. These critically injured individuals may be referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.

Divisional Officer Grade 2 Joe Bryden, the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Fire Commander, previously revealed that a resident who attempted to warn firefighters about the danger tragically lost his life in the explosion.
