NPP Unveils Protocols for Parliamentary Primaries on January 27, 2024

The National Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a set of protocols outlining the procedures for its parliamentary primaries scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The protocols, aimed at ensuring the integrity and fairness of the electoral process, were disclosed in a press statement dated January 22, 2024.

According to the party’s announcement, each constituency nationwide will have a single voting center designated for the primaries. However, in constituencies with a large number of delegates, the Electoral Commission (EC) reserves the right to establish additional polling stations at the center to facilitate a swift and efficient process. The party emphasized the importance of all stakeholders adhering to these provisions to guarantee a seamless and transparent electoral process.

The press statement also highlighted the role of the Electoral Commission (EC) in overseeing the conduct of the primaries. The EC is entrusted with the full responsibility of ensuring that the elections are transparent, free, and fair. Importantly, the statement explicitly stated that no individual, whether a government appointee, party official, or otherwise, should act in violation of the guidelines set by the Electoral Commission.
