The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will present a ‘True State of the Nation Address’ on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in response to President John Dramani Mahama’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025.
The NPP claims that President Mahama’s address omitted critical national issues and misrepresented Ghana’s current state. They criticized the speech for lacking a comprehensive and accurate assessment of the country’s progress since Mahama assumed office on January 7, 2025.
In a February 28 statement, the NPP pointed out key issues allegedly overlooked, including:
- Deteriorating power supply
- Rising security challenges
- Increasing illegal mining activities
- Growing employment crisis
The NPP’s address, to be delivered by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, aims to provide a factual and objective account of Ghana’s current condition.
