Presidential Hopefuls of NPP Commit to Honoring Election Outcome
In a significant development ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary, all four presidential aspirants have formally agreed to sign an accord, pledging their commitment to acknowledging the election results and refraining from resigning from the party should they face defeat. This crucial agreement was reached during a meeting involving the National Council of Elders and the aspirants vying for the party’s candidacy.
After the successful meeting, Justin Frimpong Koduah, the General Secretary of the NPP, announced that the aspirants not only vowed to accept the primary’s results but also expressed their dedication to the party’s best interests.
In his statement, Koduah explained, “We were able to secure signatures from all four aspirants on this undertaking, which, in summary, requires them to accept the outcome of the primary and actively promote peace and unity within the party. In the event of their defeat, they have committed to remaining loyal to the party and supporting the winner of the primary.”
Moreover, the aspirants have also made assurances to “uphold and enforce the mechanisms established by the party and adhere to the timelines set by the party until the results are officially declared. They have further pledged to respect the decision of the party’s delegates.”
This commitment to democratic principles and party unity is a positive step towards ensuring a smooth and harmonious primary election for the NPP.
