
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for members interested in contesting as the Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2028 General Elections.
In a notice signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and dated July 29, 2025, the NPP announced that the nomination process begins today, Tuesday, July 29, and will end on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Per the guidelines outlined in the notice, interested aspirants are to pick up nomination forms from the Office of the General Secretary at the Party Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra. This follows the directive based on Article 13(1)(2) of the Party’s Constitution.
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢100,000) through a Bankers Draft addressed to the NPP National Headquarters. Additionally, a filing fee of Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢500,000) is required for the submission of completed forms.
Furthermore, the notice indicates that all aspiring presidential candidates will also be obligated to pay a Development Fee, the details of which will be determined by the National Council.
The Party has scheduled its National Congress (Presidential Primary) for Saturday, January 31, 2026, during which delegates will elect the Presidential Candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 national elections.
