The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has urged Ghanaians to exercise patience and trust in the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government as it works tirelessly to address the current economic challenges facing the country.
Kodua emphasized that the NPP has displayed superior economic management compared to its counterpart, the National Democratic Congress (NDC). While acknowledging the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, he highlighted the achievements of the NPP since assuming office in January 2017.
The NPP General Secretary stated, “When it comes to managing Ghana’s economy, our opponents do not have a comparable record. It is the case that today, the NDC feels emboldened because COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War have hindered the gains we made immediately upon taking over on 7th January 2017.”
He further pointed out the successful economic management by the NPP during the presidency of John Agyekum Kufuor from 2001 to 2009, where the party revitalized Ghana’s economy after the stagnation left by the NDC. Kodua also highlighted the NPP’s achievement of sustaining an average 7 percent economic growth for three consecutive years under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo prior to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
“The truth is that we are fixing the economy, and soon, the hardships of today will be history. The assurance to Ghanaians that we will regenerate the economy is manifest in our record,” Kodua emphasized.
Additionally, he commended the economic acumen of former President Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo for their contributions to Ghana’s economic growth.
With his statements, Justin Kodua conveys the NPP’s confidence in the Akufo-Addo government’s efforts to improve the economy and assures Ghanaians that the current hardships will soon be overcome.
