The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has donated GH¢1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, widely known as MahamaCares, to support individuals living with chronic non-communicable diseases.
The contribution forms part of the Authority’s corporate social responsibility efforts and aligns with the government’s broader vision of improving access to healthcare, particularly for patients requiring long-term medical support.
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, confirmed that the donation had received board approval.
“We have decided to also support. The Board has given approval for an amount of GHC1 million,” he stated.
He further urged the Fund to extend its reach to underserved areas, particularly in northern Ghana, where access to specialised treatments such as dialysis remains a challenge.
The Administrator of the Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, welcomed the donation and expressed appreciation to the NPA for its support. She noted that the funds would significantly boost the Trust’s capacity to deliver essential healthcare assistance to vulnerable patients.
MahamaCares, an initiative championed by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to provide financial relief to individuals battling chronic conditions, helping to reduce the burden of expensive medical treatments.
The latest donation is expected to enhance the Fund’s impact as it continues to expand its interventions across the country.
