Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has emphasized his significant role within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), declaring that crucial decisions within the party will not be made without seeking his input.
Agyapong conveyed this message during a celebratory “Showdown” Thanksgiving event organized for his supporters and coordinators following the NPP presidential primary.
During the event, Mr. Agyapong expressed his appreciation for his campaign team and highlighted the fact that they had been underestimated in the lead-up to the primary. He argued that their performance served as proof of their influence within the NPP, claiming control over one-third of the party.
“They underestimated us, but we’ve shown them that we now command one-third of the NPP,” Mr. Agyapong asserted. “No significant decision will be made without consulting us.”
In the NPP presidential primary, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the victor with 61.47% of the votes, amounting to 118,210 votes, while Agyapong, as the closest competitor, secured 37.41% of the votes, totaling 71,996 votes.
Although he did not emerge as the primary winner, Agyapong’s statement underscores his confidence in the importance of his influence and role within the party’s decision-making processes.
