Nkroful Chief Summons NAPO to Apologize Over Nkrumah Remarks

The Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutuah, along with the Nzema Manle, has summoned Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to Nkroful to issue an unreserved apology to the kinsmen of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for his derogatory remarks. This comes after NAPO’s comments about Nkrumah during his unveiling in Kumasi, which have been widely condemned.

Although NAPO has issued a general apology, the Chief of Nkroful and the Nzema Manle found it insufficient and defensive. During a press conference on July 14, 2024, they demanded that NAPO personally visit Nkroful to apologize directly to Nkrumah’s family and the people of Nzema.

Nana Kwasi Kutuah criticized NAPO’s comments, stating, “His phrase ‘Mo Kwame Nkrumah Nu’ meaning ‘Your Kwame Nkrumah’ is gross disrespect against Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and we condemn it with all alacrity.”

The Chief further cautioned politicians against undermining Nkrumah’s legacy, asserting that any such attempts would face strong resistance from the Nzema people. He emphasized the importance of preserving the achievements and reputation of Dr. Nkrumah, urging all political actors to promote messages of unity, peace, and development for Ghana.
