The Oyo State Police Command in Nigeria has rescued 19 young Ghanaians from a human trafficking operation in the Kajorepo area of Akinyele, Ibadan.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, July 6, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the victims 14 men and five women were lured into the country with false promises of employment and later exploited by unidentified traffickers for financial gain.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with support from tactical teams, executed a search warrant at a building suspected to be linked to suspicious activities. The rescued individuals have been handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for further processing and possible repatriation to Ghana to reunite with their families.
CSP Osifeso reiterated the commitment of the Oyo State Police Command to dismantling trafficking operations and bringing those responsible to justice. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
