Tensions are rising as officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have reportedly surrounded the residence of Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, in what is believed to be an attempt to arrest him.

The claim was made by the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, who described the incident as part of an increasing trend of political harassment. He made the allegation in a social media post on Tuesday, April 9, using the hashtag #SayNoToStateIntimidation to decry what he views as a crackdown on opposition voices.

This development comes just days after Rev. Ntim Fordjour made headlines with serious allegations that two aircraft had landed at Kotoka International Airport under suspicious circumstances, possibly involving drug trafficking and money laundering.

Government officials have dismissed the MP’s claims as unsubstantiated, but the NIB’s reported move has stirred fresh controversy, with critics warning of attempts to silence dissent.

“The siege at his residence is deeply concerning. This is not just about one MP—it’s about protecting the democratic right to speak out,” Kodua Frimpong stated.

The NIB has yet to officially respond to the allegations surrounding the attempted arrest or provide clarification on the current status of the investigation.
