The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has announced that new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will be appointed within the next 14 days.
This decision comes in the wake of President John Dramani Mahama’s directive on January 8, 2025, to revoke all current MMDCE appointments as part of efforts to restructure local governance.
Speaking to Citi News, Ashie Moore urged party members and the public to remain patient as the nomination process is completed. He assured that the selection of candidates is being handled with thorough scrutiny to ensure the appointment of qualified and competent leaders for the assemblies.
“Per our party’s machinery, this week we are doing a screening of the nomination of prospective candidates for those positions. Hopefully, by the close of the next 14 days, we will have MMDCEs in place, so they should cooperate with us,” he stated.
This restructuring effort is expected to enhance local governance and support the government’s broader agenda for national development.
