New Judge Takes Over Kwabena Adu-Boahene Trial at Accra High Court

A new judge has taken over the ongoing trial of former National Signal Bureau Director-General, , and two others at the .

has replaced as the presiding judge in the case.

During the first hearing under the new judge on Wednesday, March 11, the prosecution’s witness, , who is the Head of Finance at the , faced cross-examination from the defence lawyer, .

The questioning focused largely on how national security funds are managed under the (GIFMIS).

During her testimony, the witness explained that while certain categories of government expenditure are subject to annual audits, funds allocated for special operations are exempt from regular auditing due to their sensitive nature.

She further confirmed that cheques amounting to GH¢49.1 million were authorised by the late National Security Coordinator, , for special operations.

According to her testimony, the funds—comprising GH¢1,000,000, GH¢27,100,000, and GH¢21,000,000—were signed and approved by Mr. Kyeremeh, a statement that challenges the prosecution’s claim that Adu-Boahene was responsible for transferring the funds.

The court subsequently adjourned the case to March 17 and March 18, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.
