The first graduates of the Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT), located in Ayensudo, Central Region, Ghana, were awarded $1,000 each by the school’s founder and Chairman of the Governing Board, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. The cash award was given to the initial eight students admitted to NSBT during the school’s inaugural graduation and third matriculation ceremony at their Ayensudo campus.
Dr. Nduom fulfilled his promise to the first students of the institution, highlighting his commitment to supporting their entrepreneurial aspirations. Originally, the plan was to provide seed money for small businesses while studying, but this was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The graduation ceremony celebrated the first cohort of 25 students, comprising eight females and 17 males. Among them were two first-class honors, 12 second-class upper, nine second-class lower, and two third-class honors graduates.
In his address, Dr. Nduom urged the beneficiaries to invest the money wisely, emphasizing the importance of using it for productive measures rather than transient pleasures. He assured the graduates of the institute’s commitment to ensuring their successful employment, urging them to maintain close ties with the school.
The Rector of NSBT, Rev. Prof. Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, highlighted the school’s efforts in forming partnerships with international universities, particularly in the USA. He commended the University of Cape Coast for its mentorship and expressed gratitude to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for their support.
A representative from GTEC, Emmanuel Newman, encouraged the graduates to apply their education towards solving societal problems and securing employment, noting the versatility of the skills learned at NSBT.
NSBT is on its way to becoming a chartered, independent university, possessing all the necessary facilities and resources to operate at such a level.
