Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly criticized the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over the introduction of a GH¢1 levy on petroleum products.
Speaking on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 4, Aboagye accused the NDC administration of betraying Ghanaians, labeling them as a “scam and ‘settings’ government.” He expressed disappointment over what he described as a contradiction in the NDC’s earlier stance on taxation.
“The same government that argued the 1% E-Levy was a burden has now turned around to impose a GH¢1 tax on every litre of fuel,” he said. “The E-Levy was avoidable, but this fuel levy affects everyone, no one is spared.” he also wrote on his Facebook page.
Aboagye further criticized the government for recently removing the E-Levy only to introduce a 14% increase in electricity tariffs and now a new fuel levy, which he believes directly impacts the cost of living for all citizens.
“This is a clueless, everlasting incompetent bunch of arrogant braggarts who have scammed their way into power,” he asserted. “But because the goodwill is still high, we are allowing them to crush our necks.”
