The National Service Authority (NSA) is collaborating with the Ghana Armed Forces to roll out the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), which will introduce basic military training for all National Service Personnel (NSPs) beginning August 2025.

The initiative, discussed during a meeting on April 23, aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s pledge to promote discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness among Ghana’s graduates. He first announced this policy in his State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025.

NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi highlighted the programme’s role in shaping a more responsible and resilient youth. He urged all Ghanaians to support the move, describing it as a crucial step toward reshaping the nation’s future.

“All NSPs will undergo basic military drills and orientation to build a sense of discipline and commitment to national development,” Gyamfi stated.

Representing the Military High Command, Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye expressed the Armed Forces’ full backing for the programme and assured the NSA of their preparedness to provide the necessary training.

The training is set to begin on August 3, 2025, and will last up to two months, during which personnel will be taken through various basic military exercises and drills.
