The paramount chief of the Nangodi Traditional Area, Naab Pariyoung Kosom Yelzoya Asaga II, has lauded the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for his proposed 24-hour economy policy, describing it as a transformative initiative that will not only engage the youth but also contribute to economic growth. During a meeting with the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Naab Yelzoya emphasized the urgency of addressing poverty in Ghana and expressed confidence that Mahama’s 24-hour economy plan would provide hope and excitement to the people.
“Poverty is biting. It is palpable. You can feel it. This is the only time that I have heard all Ghanaians agreeing that is difficult. In this time, people are looking for something to deliver them. So when you come with 24-hour economy, you give hope and excitement to the people,” stated Naab Yelzoya.
He further commended Mahama for addressing the pressing issues facing the country and believed that the 24-hour economy, as he understood it, could effectively boost the economy, tackle unemployment, and generate more revenue. The endorsement came as Mahama embarked on the “Building Ghana Tour” in the Upper East Region, engaging with various constituencies and gathering input for the NDC’s manifesto leading up to the 2024 general elections.
The former President held meetings with chiefs and residents of Zebilla, Bongo, and Bolgatanga East constituencies, along with town meetings in Bolgatanga Central, Tempani, and St. John Bosco College of Education.
