Nana Agradaa, a former traditional priestess turned Christian evangelist, was convicted on July 3, 2025, by Justice Evelyn Asamoah for defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.
Her legal team, however, contends that the ruling was unjust and that she was denied a fair trial.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, July 7, lead counsel Richard Asare Baffour said the appeal was filed at the High Court earlier that morning.
“We filed the petition of appeal this morning because the judgment delivered by the court is so unreasonable, and the evidence on record does not support it,” he stated.
He further alleged that the trial process was fundamentally flawed, claiming the presiding judge showed bias during proceedings.
“We are saying that the judge demonstrated manifest bias by harassing and intimidating the accused,” he added.
Mr. Asare Baffour also revealed that the legal team is preparing to file for bail to secure the temporary release of Nana Agradaa as the appeal process continues.
