The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has destroyed quantities of illicit drugs and other illegal substances in the Savannah Region after joint operations with the Ghana Police Service.
The substances were seized from individuals during targeted enforcement actions to curb drug abuse and trafficking. These operations led to the conviction of six people by the Damongo Circuit Court, each fined at least 500 penalty units.
Savannah Regional Minister Salisu Be-Awuribe said the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has intensified efforts to combat drug-related crimes, stressing that the use of illicit drugs remains strictly prohibited.
Savannah Regional NACOC Commander Rashida Ewuntomah noted that the Commission’s anti-trafficking operations will be strengthened with the establishment of district and municipal offices, which will provide quicker access to firsthand intelligence. In the meantime, she said officers remain committed to bringing offenders to justice.
