MTN Ghana has confirmed that approximately 5,700 customers may have been affected by a recent cybersecurity breach involving unauthorized access to personal data.
The Data Protection Commission (DPC) has launched an investigation into the incident, while MTN says it is working with top cybersecurity experts to conduct a forensic review of the breach. In a statement released on April 28, 2025, MTN assured the public that all affected individuals would be contacted directly.
The telecom giant emphasized its commitment to customer data privacy and outlined steps being taken to contain and manage the breach. It also advised customers to take precautions such as updating their devices and apps, using strong passwords, and being cautious of suspicious messages.
MTN reiterated that it remains committed to protecting the trust of its customers and stakeholders as th investigation continues.
