Mobile money transactions in Ghana totaled GHC354.1 billion in August 2025, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest Summary of Economic and Financial Data.
Although the figure is a slight drop from July’s GHC355.4 billion, mobile payments continue to dominate the country’s financial landscape. The number of transactions rose from 778 million in July to 831 million in August, underscoring the growing use of digital payment systems.
Registered mobile money accounts increased to 77.7 million, with 25.1 million active users, reflecting Ghana’s steady progress in financial inclusion.
Mobile money interoperability also expanded, recording GHC4.9 billion in cross-network transfers through 26.4 million transactions.
Analysts note that despite currency fluctuations and economic pressures, the consistent growth in transaction volumes and active users highlights the resilience of digital payments and cements mobile money’s role as a key driver of Ghana’s financial sector.
