Minority Walks Out as Parliament Confirms New Ministers

Parliament has confirmed Herbert Krapah as the Minister of State for the Energy Ministry and Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.

However, the approval came with controversy as the Minority members walked out before the vote, arguing that President Akufo-Addo’s nominations would unnecessarily increase the size of the government and raise public spending.

Previously, the Minority caucus had also boycotted the Appointments Committee’s vetting of the nominated ministers due to similar concerns.

In response, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin refuted the claims, asserting that the government is not expanding its size despite the economic challenges.
