The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has expressed concerns over the conduct of a parliamentary cameraman, accusing him of politicizing his professional role.
According to Hon. Afenyo-Markin, the cameraman deliberately focused the camera on his shoes during parliamentary proceedings, particularly when he was experiencing discomfort and had taken them off due to pain. In contrast, he noted that members of the Majority were shown in full-body shots while speaking, which he described as a clear act of bias.
The Minority Leader criticized the broadcast of the footage showing him without shoes, calling it inappropriate and insensitive. He argued that such targeted framing was not only unprofessional but also undermined the decorum expected within the chamber.
Hon. Afenyo-Markin has called on the Speaker of Parliament to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. He warned that allowing such conduct to continue could set a dangerous precedent and potentially expose others to unnecessary ridicule or embarrassment in the future.
