Military Take Over is not the Remedy to Africa’s Problems – Otumfuo Osei Tutu

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, expressed concern about the increasing number of coup d’états happening in Africa, attributing them to economic challenges faced by nations and resulting in the overthrow of democratically elected governments.

Speaking at the St. Andrews Africa Summit in Scotland, he strongly opposed the idea of military coups as a solution to Africa’s problems, emphasizing that he believes military takeovers are not the answer. He pointed out that economic issues are a significant concern across the continent and stressed that the era when military force was seen as a solution has passed.
