The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has assured the public that the Black Queens are safe in the United Arab Emirates amid rising tensions in parts of the Middle East.
The women’s national team is currently in the UAE preparing for an upcoming international tournament, including the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Recent regional developments have raised safety concerns, prompting swift engagement from Ghanaian authorities and football officials.
GFA President Kurt Okraku met with the team to appeal for calm and reassure the players and technical staff of the Association’s full support. He disclosed that within the past 24 to 48 hours, the GFA had engaged key stakeholders to assess the situation and determine the appropriate course of action.
These engagements include consultations with Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Association’s security advisers.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, have both reached out to the team to express the nation’s solidarity and support during this period.
The GFA has urged the public to remain calm as it continues to monitor developments closely. It assured stakeholders that timely updates will be communicated should there be any changes to the situation.
The Black Queens have been in the UAE for the past week as part of their preparations, and officials maintain that the team remains safe and focused on their tournament objectives.
