Mid-Year Budget Presentation Delayed

The presentation of the 2024 mid-year budget review to Parliament has been delayed due to the absence of the minority caucus.

Channel One News’ Parliamentary correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, reports that the Minority MPs are protesting the delay in releasing their common fund.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, was scheduled to present the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament today, Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

The presentation’s objective is to update the House on the implementation of the government’s 2024 Budget and provide revised financial plans and the latest economic outlook for Ghana.

In a statement dated Monday, July 22, the Ministry indicated that the review would offer insights into the economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year, covering growth measures, revenue, expenditure performance, financing, and debt sustainability.

The minority members have expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the disbursement of the common fund, which they deem essential for fulfilling their parliamentary duties.

However, Paul Twum-Barimah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, told Channel One News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, that the minority members are in a caucus meeting and not boycotting the Finance Minister’s presentation.
