Massive Flooding in Accra Following Wednesday Morning Downpour

Accra experienced significant flooding following a downpour early Wednesday morning, which started around 3 am in various parts of the city. The heavy rainfall has caused major disruptions, particularly for road users and businesses.

Floodwaters rendered major roads impassable, leading to massive gridlock and leaving many commuters stranded. Affected areas include the road from the Airport through Shangri-La to Shiashie, making it difficult for motorists to navigate.

Other submerged areas include Tantra Hill, Adabraka Sahara, the Ofankor Pokuase stretch, the Accra-Tema motorway, and First Light, among others, resulting in severe traffic congestion. Many shops have closed due to the downpour, and some car owners have parked their vehicles to avoid engine damage from the floodwaters.
