The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), in collaboration with National Security operatives, has retrieved three government vehicles from the residence of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Confirming the development on Citi FM’s *Eyewitness News* on Wednesday, September 10, MASLOC CEO Abigail Elorm Mensah explained that the exercise forms part of a broader operation to recover government vehicles and loans from individuals who have defaulted.

“I went with National Security operatives to the house of the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Chairman Wontumi. We retrieved three vehicles. In fact, there were five, and we are still pursuing the other two. He must pay for them,” Mensah stated.

According to her, MASLOC requires defaulters who misuse or fail to return government vehicles to either settle their outstanding debts or return the assets. She emphasized that repayment agreements are enforced before the vehicles can be released back to the beneficiaries.

Mensah further disclosed that several similar cases have already been reported to the police as part of efforts to protect state property. She cited an example involving a brother of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Seidu Imoro, who allegedly refused to return a government-issued Nissan Urvan vehicle after acquiring a new one.

“In that case, he boldly told us that since he had used the car for work and bought his own, we could come for it. We have since seized the vehicle,” she said.

The MASLOC CEO reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to holding defaulters accountable and recovering state assets to ensure transparency and accountability in public service.
