The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Benjamin Owusu, for staging a false robbery and kidnapping incident at Fijai, a suburb of Millennium City in Gomoa Nyanyano, Central Region.

According to police reports, on September 3, 2025, Owusu sent a distress message to a complainant, claiming he was under attack at his residence. Officers who rushed to the scene discovered bloodstains on the bedroom floor, but Owusu was missing. Forensic analysis later confirmed that the blood was not human.

During interrogation, Owusu admitted to killing a duck and using its blood to fake the crime scene in a bid to cover up his inability to account for money belonging to his employer.

In a statement issued on September 25, the police confirmed that Owusu will be arraigned after investigations conclude. The Command commended the public for assisting in his arrest and cautioned against similar criminal acts, stressing that offenders will face the full rigours of the law.
