Mahama’s First 120 Days is Full of Disappointments and Regrets – Afenyo-Markin

‎Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has lambasted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration over what he describes as a disappointing and divisive first 120 days in office.

‎Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Afenyo-Markin claimed the government has failed to deliver on its key promises while engaging in political witch-hunts and creating a divided society.

‎“For me, it’s 120 days of disappointment and regret,” he said. “The NDC has created two Ghanas—one for their party faithful and one for those they consider opponents.”

‎He condemned the mass termination of public sector employees recruited after the December 7 elections, labeling it politically motivated and unjustified. He noted that even the Chief of Staff’s directive, which called for reviews in cases of irregularities, was misapplied to justify widespread dismissals.

‎Afenyo-Markin also criticized the reported dismissal of teachers and nurses who had been posted to their stations, adding that there is no clear evidence of efforts to reinstate them, despite public statements from key NDC figures like Haruna Iddrisu.

‎Addressing the NDC’s touted 24-hour economy policy, the Minority Leader argued that the government has failed to show any concrete steps toward implementing the proposed shift-based job creation model.

‎“They promised a ‘one-three-three’ shift system to boost private sector jobs. But so far, there’s no clear direction, no incentives, and no enabling environment,” he said.

‎He concluded by stating that the NDC’s early performance has eroded public trust and worsened the unemployment situation, calling the administration’s first four months a betrayal of the electorate’s expectations.
