President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians, particularly the youth, of his government’s commitment to tackling unemployment by fostering strong partnerships with the private sector to generate decent, well-paying jobs.
Delivering his inaugural address at the Black Star Square on January 7, 2025, Mahama outlined his administration’s focus on inclusivity, accountability, and innovation as the driving principles behind efforts to uplift the lives of Ghanaians.
Addressing a packed audience of dignitaries, government officials, and jubilant citizens, the newly sworn-in President reaffirmed his dedication to addressing the pressing concerns of young people, who he said were instrumental in his electoral victory.
“The December 7 election outcome is a powerful affirmation of the youth’s demand for change and their desire for a future filled with hope and opportunity,” Mahama stated. “Your aspirations and concerns will be central to my administration’s policies.”
Mahama highlighted the need to channel the energy and talents of the youth into productive ventures by creating sustainable opportunities. He stressed that his administration would work closely with captains of industry and the private sector to foster innovation and develop industries that could engage young minds.
“My administration, along with my Vice President, will prioritise inclusivity, accountability, and innovation, forging pathways that will lead to the upliftment of all of our people. I am profoundly grateful for this moment, a cornerstone in the journey towards a brighter future for Ghana,” he said.
The President’s speech resonated with many in the crowd, especially young people, who expressed optimism about his plans to address unemployment and economic challenges.
Mahama’s promises come amidst increasing calls for job creation and economic reforms to ensure the welfare of Ghana’s youth, who represent a significant portion of the population.
