Mahama Nominates Eight New Ambassadors to Strengthen Ghana’s Diplomatic Ties

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the nomination of eight new Ambassadors and High Commissioners to represent Ghana in key countries around the world, signaling a fresh diplomatic direction for his administration.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, indicated that the appointments followed consultations with the Council of State and are part of the government’s strategy to bolster Ghana’s foreign relations.

Among the prominent nominees is former Deputy Finance Minister and economist Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey, who has been appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy.

Also included is energy expert Dr. Kwame Ampofo, who will head Ghana’s mission to Hungary, and seasoned politician Paul Evans Aidoo, who has been nominated for the Republic of Kenya.

Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Magnus Kofi Amoatey will represent Ghana in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, while Attah Kojo Choi, a naturalized Ghanaian who relocated to the country at age 14, has been named Ambassador to South Korea.

Other appointees include:

Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Harruna – Republic of Namibia
Kenneth Akibate – Burkina Faso
Said Saleh Sinare – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Presidency has directed the relevant institutions to initiate official procedures for the vetting and approval of the nominees in line with constitutional requirements.
