Mahama Lacks Understanding of Digitalization, Do Not to Vote for Him – Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, over his perceived lack of understanding regarding digitalization’s importance to Ghana’s economic growth.

Addressing youth supporters on Sunday, November 3, Bawumia claimed that Mahama downplays the role of digitalization in economic development, linking this mindset to Ghana’s economic struggles during Mahama’s tenure. Bawumia stressed that digitalization is essential for national progress, citing the benefits it brings to citizens and the economy.

“Today, he [Mahama] says there’s no link between digitization and the economy. In this 4th industrial revolution, how can we have a leader who doesn’t appreciate the value of digitization in a digital global economy?” Bawumia questioned, urging voters to reject Mahama in the 2024 elections.

Bawumia also contrasted the current administration’s digitalization achievements with Mahama’s focus on infrastructure, suggesting that infrastructure is secondary to digital progress. He criticized Mahama’s emphasis on infrastructure as insufficient, pointing to his administration’s digital-focused approach as more effective for economic growth.

Additionally, Bawumia expressed doubts about Mahama’s proposed “24-Hour Economy Policy,” questioning its feasibility and describing it as confusing. He dismissed Mahama’s concept as unclear, stating that Ghanaians should instead elect a “brand new, tear-rubber president” rather than “a second-hand failed president.”

Mahama, however, has defended his 24-hour economy proposal, asserting that it aims to revitalize Ghana’s economy through specific targeted interventions.
