President John Dramani Mahama has nominated new District Chief Executives (DCEs) for eight out of the 16 regions in Ghana, aiming to enhance local governance and development.

The appointments, made under Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), are part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration.

A statement signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, confirmed the nominations. It stated that the appointees must secure approval from their respective District Assemblies before assuming office.

  • The nominations seek to fill vacant DCE positions and improve service delivery at the local level, in line with President Mahama’s vision of fostering effective administration and grassroots transformation.
