President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, following the dismissal of Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah.
The announcement, made in an official letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, instructed that Dr. Baidoo’s appointment be formalized in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions, particularly among the Asante youth, who have called on the president to reinstate Prof. Addai-Mensah, citing dissatisfaction with his removal.
