President-elect John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to initiate the transition process with outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
In his victory speech, delivered after the Electoral Commission officially declared him president-elect, Mahama revealed that Akufo-Addo had pledged to ensure a smooth and peaceful transfer of power. “I have just received a call from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo. He graciously extended his congratulations to me, and we discussed matters related to the joint transition team,” Mahama said.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation to ensure a seamless transition and to advance Ghana’s progress. The announcement signals a commitment to unity and stability during the change in leadership.
