John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that the Jubilee House is at the center of a deliberate misinformation campaign on social media aimed at discrediting him and his political activities.
Addressing supporters at a mini-rally in the Asene Manso Akroso constituency in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, Mahama criticized the government, claiming it has turned the presidency into a hub for spreading falsehoods about him and others.
Mahama’s comments followed a statement from Nana Kwabena Ofori, the Chief of Akyem Akroso, who refuted claims that he had endorsed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during a recent visit.
Urging Ghanaians to stay vigilant and verify information during the election period, Mahama warned against falling for misinformation.
“While Nana spoke, he urged journalists to avoid twisting his words. Nana, it is not journalists doing this; it is the Jubilee House. That is where the twisting occurs. When false information is attributed to you, that is fake news,” Mahama said.
He emphasized that the government’s actions are unethical, stating, “They have misrepresented me, they have misrepresented you, and many others. All the fake news circulating on social media originates from the Jubilee House.”
